Hi ,

Welcome to the April 2025 edition of the eEngineering.com Newsletter. Our newsletter is designed to provide our customers with the latest news on two-way radios, wireless communications, and security solutions.

Cut Through The Noise With MOTOTRBO R5 and Save $750.00

With loud audio, advanced noise suppression, clear status indications, and dedicated hardware controls, the MOTOTRBO R5 delivers reliable team communications to boost worker efficiency and safety. From March 30 through September 27, 2025, you can save $750.00 when you purchase 10 MOTOTRBO R5 Series two-way radios and trade-in eligible units.

Loud
If workers can’t hear messages above noisy vehicles, a cheering crowd or heavy plant machinery, safety and efficiency can be compromised. R5’s powerful built-in speaker delivers loud audio so workers can hear messages above background noise and users can even select an extra-loud audio profile for up to 106 phons loudness in extremely noisy environments. A wide selection of headsets and earpieces is also available to allow workers to hear messages discreetly or in high-noise workplaces.

Clear
R5 features a sophisticated AItrained noise suppression algorithm for advanced background noise reduction to help ensure messages are transmitted clearly. Software embedded in the device distinguishes between the talker’s voice and the various types of surrounding noise such as vehicles, crowds and heavy machines; speech is retained while ambient noise is significantly reduced. The MOTOTRBO R5’s low distortion wideband speaker plays received messages loud and clear to help prevent miscommunication.

Consistent
R5 is designed to optimize audio performance across a wide range of workplace environments and worker profiles so users don’t need to constantly adjust the radio volume. Its IMPRES™ technology and Received Audio Leveling smooth out the differences in users’ voice level and microphone placement. Intelligent Audio adjusts the radio output to avoid blaring messages or missed calls, adapting to changes in the background volume or as workers move between noisy and quiet environments.

Last week, Motorola Solutions announced the new Pelco, an innovative portfolio of artificial-intelligence-powered devices that are purpose-built for enterprises operating in some of the most challenging environments, like oil and gas and ports.

Backed by the company’s deep engineering expertise and significant investments in research and development, Pelco’s device lineup features fixed cameras, ruggedized and long-range cameras, smart sensors and AI analytics that easily integrate with a broad set of third-party video management systems (VMS).

In March, a brush fire covering 160 acres in Lucas County, IA, a Motorola APX6000XE radio was lost.

Seven fire departments from three surrounding counties assisted in extinguishing the fire. When a member of the Russell FD returned the next day to the burn site to look for the radio, the radio was found with its power on, and the display was even lit up.

The radio was able to be successfully repaired; it did need a new housing, knobs and battery, but the internal circuit boards still worked and were unharmed.

Motorola Solutions’ portfolio of LPR camera systems provides you with the tools to capture accurate license plate recognition data, but more importantly, empowers your team to use those detections to increase awareness, productivity, and investigative efficiency. Each incorporates MSI’s best-in-class optical character recognition (OCR) algorithm to ensure you're capturing the most accurate license plate recognition data.

Electronic Engineering will again provide the radio communications for the 115th running of the Drake Relays at the end of April, in Des Moines. The four-day outdoor track and field event, known as “America’s Athletic Classic,” attracts top athletes from middle school, high school, college, and professional levels. The event draws tens of thousands of fans to the Drake campus and stadium to watch athletes compete on the iconic blue oval track.
