Bill Cronin, Retired Executive VP of EE, Unexpectedly Passes Away
Lawrence William "Bill" Cronin Des Moines - passed away on the morning of December 6th, 2021, in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Bill came to EE in 1977 and spent 43 years working at EE, retiring in September 2020. He started the office in Ames, Iowa, building it into a leading branch office with thousands of friends and customers. Bill was instrumental in growing EE, adding offices in 10 other locations across Iowa and Nebraska.
Bill had numerous accolades both personally and professionally. He was selected to the 1974 NAIA All-American Football 1st team (also on that team was Chicago Bears’ Walter Payton). He was inducted to the East High
School Athletic Hall of Fame, the William Penn College Hall of Fame, selected as the Ames High School Booster of the year.
Bill was active in business, serving on the Motorola Dealer Advisory Board for several years, and held membership in numerous local organizations. He helped create one of the early interoperability systems with county, city, and university governmental organizations in central Iowa, long before the advent of P25 systems. He mentored many salespeople at EE and was never afraid to call out a vendor when in his opinion, they were not performing in the best interest of one of his clients.
Bill is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Sue Clark Cronin, and has two children, and six grandchildren. Everyone at EE expresses their appreciation to have known and been able to work with Bill over the years.
A full obituary and video celebration of Bill's life may be found at this web location.

For airports, safety is the foundation on which everything else is built. When travelers, airfields and workers are safe, focus can remain on missions, purposes and objectives.

The transportation and logistics sector is undergoing an unprecedented level of change, due in large part to the challenges of COVID-19 and the accelerated growth of eCommerce. Companies must deliver greater volume at a faster pace in an environment posing increased risk. That’s why reliable communications and connectivity have never been more important.
To find out how companies are addressing these challenges and using technology to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape, Motorola Solutions conducted the 2021 Transportation and Logistics Communications Survey. It queried more than 750 respondents representing a range of job functions, including information technology, business operations, and logistics management, as well as drivers and operators, engineers, and maintenance workers. Respondents represented a large
cross-section of transportation and distribution sectors, from trucking and rail to airlines and airports, to distribution and warehouse facilities.
What Motorola Solutions found is evidence of an industry-wide shift toward solutions that unify voice, data, video, and analytics to keep supply chain operations moving at peak efficiency, while ensuring the safety of workers, property, and assets.
